This is the toy automaton I made for SG Craft and Design. It was made from teak, ash and mahogany with aluminium chime bars.

It was quite complex but I really enjoyed the process of making it. I had some trouble getting the arms to move to hit the bars but with the help of my teacher, I managed to get it working.

Self Portrait

June 17th, 2010

One of our first assignments in graphics this year was to create a self portrait in the style of Julian Opie.

Julian Opie’s style is to reproduce photographs with very minimal detail on the computer using CAG programs such as Serif Pageplus or Scribus. His work is often characterised by the use of black outlines and flat areas of colour with very little, if any tone added to the portrait.

I really enjoyed creating my own portrait, though it’s harder than it looks!

His work can be seen on his website:

About

June 17th, 2010

Hello and welcome to my portfolio website! I am currently in my final year at the Royal High School studying Advanced Higher Graphic Communications, Art and Maths. I have also recently picked up photography as a hobby so hopefully you will get to see some photographs among my graphics and art assignments!

After school i would love to go to university to study a design course in order to pursue a career in advertising/visual communications/marketing (or something along those lines!).

Leora.

Ps. Dont hesitate to comment on any of my posts, I’d love to hear your thoughts (good or bad) on my work!
